Miss Cassy released a mixtape titled "Grind Or Die" in 2013 and is currently working  on her second mix tape titled Cash, Booz & Music"The Namibian Music Industry lacks women like myself, who are self motivated and Independent and that is why I feel like my work has not even yet started because there is so much more to do" says the rapper. She is also currently working on her music label SoReal Promotions (SR Pro) and the #Team_SoReal movement. The Walvisbay born rapper has high dreams and expectations for herself and fellow female rappers. Read more about what Miss Cassy has to say in the Q&A with Nam Hip Hop News:

Q: When did you start rapping?
A: Well I started writing raps during November 2009, but I officially laced my first 16 bars January 2010. Though I’ve been doing “music” in general for much longer
Q: How did you fall in love with the art?
A: I’ve always loved music, from a very young age. I’ve been writing songs since I been in grade 6 but I guess if I have to pin point when exactly I wanted to do music it would have to be when I first heard Brick and Lace with their “Never Never” track. That’s when I knew I really wanted to do music.
Q: Who is your inspiration?
A: I’m inspired by allot of people. Musicians, actors, writers poets fashion icons. O.M.G the list can go on and on but obviously Nicki Minaj is one of the main reasons I started to rap. Her “beam me up scotty mix tape” was just so epic and raw and she kinda said everything I wanted to say in my music, so that’s why I started to Rap more than singing. Although currently I listen to and I’m inspired by K’la her music is so pure and real and it captivates me.

Q: Who are your top 5 local rappers?

A: There are alot of rappers that are very good. So I’ll just say who's currently on my playlist:
1. Static Playa with “Rossy”, I just love that song its so much fun and I enjoy all his music.
2. Brain The Tool with “Rebellion”, at first I didn’t know what to make of the song. But the more I listene to it the more I love it and I have to listen to it everyday now.
3. L.t.D with "Why we up", I always loved L.t.D’s take on music his bars are always on point and he's just fresh.
4. Mr Diamonds "Number 1 Whyler Mixtape" is what I basically play all the time. He’s just a whyller that one. My fav track being “imperfect me”
5. Ru with "incredible hulk", Yes she has her own take on crazy and I love her for being different. She’s so much fun and she can make some kick ass tracks.
Q: Do you think the rap game is sleeping on female MCs?
A: Obviously. I think that the Rap Game is sleeping on female MC’s and it has been doing that for a while. But I think that, that’s because female rappers are sleeping themselves. Honestly we are the minority and that means we have to work harder than the males. We have to do more shows and projects together if we want this “rap game” to stay awake for us. So my ladies like I say its “ Grind Or Die” we gotta put in that work.

Q: How come we don't hear collabos from female rappers in Namibia?
A: I really don’t know. I mean I did a track with Gy-Gy and she's a really good rapper. Although I cant speak for other females but personally I don’t do a lot of collabos with male rappers either. I mean on my “Grind Or Die mixtape” I only did one collaboration and that was with Danny on my track “Keep it real.” I think I’m just too busy. Although I wanna do a few projects with Ru, Bella Harris and First Lady it’s just that I don’t get the time to do so. If there is any female rapper, singer, actress, model or whatever they can just halla at me on facebook at Miss-Cassy Rap-Goddess. I’m always trying to work with people. You know, push that Girl Power thing.
Q: Do you think female rappers are under pressure to work hard to compete with the male artists?
A: Definitely. I feel the pressure all the time and sometimes it gets to you. Like for instance being the only female MC on the Energy hip hop & RnB Countdown competing against a bunch of guys trynna get to number one is tough. But I hang in there and my fans are doing their best to get “Miss Cassy-Queen of the Jungle” to number one. They got “Miss Cassy -I can back it up” to number one, I’m sure we can do this too. From day one I’ve been competing with male artists, because when I first came out there were hardly any active female rappers in the country. So being a part of Yung N.A.M.S made me more aware of the fact that males were my competition. Not that it bugs me, I mean you have to go against the best if you want to be the best.

Q: Your local celebrity crush?

A: Lol yhall have to guess that one. I’ve personally said I wont date a rapper but I’m currently feeling one. hahahaha
Q: What should we expect from Miss Cassy in the music industry?
A: Just expect a very busy Miss Cassy on the production side. I am currently working on some stuff and I just want it to be a surprise. Though everybody should watch the space for the Cash, Booze & Music mix tape which I’m currently writing music for. Hopefully it will be done before June. Shouts out to J-Pro Beatmaker, he's been amazing working on the #Team_SoReal project with me. Which is the movement of realness cause like my song says “I keep it real” and SoReal Promotions (SR Pro) is the music label that I own. Shouts out to Ambassador Star, MC RAY “ToCoolToLose”, Bella Harris, Sandra Black, the whole BlaqueHouse collections group. You know, just shouts out to everybody on dey Grind man and follow me on Twitter @MissCassyBaybe and like my Miss Cassy [official] fan page and subscribe to my YouTube channel MissCassyDivaEyez. Thank you Nam Hip Hop New for the platform.

"I just feel like if a white girl from Australia like Iggy Azealia can make it in the rap game in the USA. What the hell is stopping a little African girl from Namibia? I'm going for my dream and everybody else should follow my lead, because we aint gone get nothing done if we aint doing nothing about it."-Miss Cassy
